Wool - How to care of wool

Winter is a great season for wool. Learning how to wash, clean and care for your woolen clothes will keep them beautiful, feeling and smelling great.

Delicate woolen garments, such as sweaters, can only be washed by hand, but sometimes you can wash using Delicate / Woolen Washing Machine Programs

Wash 

Woolen fabrics require gentle handling during a wash. Only the Delicate/Woolens program should be selected for machine wash.
It is also very important to use mild detergent for washing wool. Avoid using powdered detergents, which are usually textiles

Avoid washing hand-crafted clothing frequently

Hand-wash 

1. Soak the garment in cold water and mild detergent
2. Let it soak for up to 30 minutes
3. Rinse the soap from the garment
4. Allow the garment to air dry

Machine wash

1. Flip the garment from the inside out
2. If you have a mesh laundry bag for delicates, you can place the garment inside to further protect it
3. Set your washing machine to its gentle cycle and use cold or cold water
4. Do not use bleach or harsh detergents as bleach can cause permanent yellowing and discoloration
5. Allow the garment to air dry

Bleach Woolen Garments

Chlorine or oxygen bleach should never be used on wools.

Dry

Use a towel

To speed up the drying of the sweater and cardigan, wrap a towel around it and squeeze. Water from woolen clothing will be absorbed by the towel and dry faster.

Don’t Dry on Hanger

Be careful and do not dry the knitwear on a hanger because it leaves shapes on the clothes. To avoid, you just need to dry all the knitwear on a surface, such as a kitchen or bathroom counter, or a drying rack, instead of drying on a hanger.
